What is the Sat.tv service? 

Sat.tv is an innovative, unique programme guide service produced by Eutelsat for Northwest Africa and the Middle East. Users of the service benefit from a range of new features such as direct access to the most popular channels in their country, filtering of channels by theme, or the option to record TV programmes and watch them at any time. This free, simple and innovative service can be accessed through a wide range of set-top boxes. To take advantage of the service, all you need is a satellite dish equipped with a universal LNB oriented towards the Eutelsat/Nilesat 7°West or HOTBIRD 13°East orbital positions.

What features does the Sat.tv service have? 

In order to enhance the user experience, Sat.tv makes viewing easy and straightforward with over 10 features offered: 

– Easy, automatic installation with no configuration or Internet connection required. 
– Satellite channels installed and updated regularly with no need for manual intervention.
– Direct access to the most popular channels thanks to a pre-set list based on the country chosen when the service is set up.
– Channels immediately identifiable by their logo.
– Filter for easy channel search by type (130 movie channels, 40 sports channels and 20 children’s channels).
– TV guide instantly displayed on your TV screen.
– Programmes presented with all the relevant broadcasting information: name, broadcast schedule, names of actors, year of production, etc. 
– Programmable alerts so you don’t miss a thing.
– TV programmes can be recorded to watch at any time.
– Quick access to channels via the “Favourites” section.
– Sat.tv compatible set-top boxes are easily identifiable by a logo (applied only after approval of the manufacturer’s self-certification procedure).

Is the Sat.tv service free?

Sat.tv service reception and viewing of all free-to-air channels from Eutelsat satellites is free of charge. You simply need to buy a satellite decoder bearing the Sat.tv logo.

How can I receive Sat.tv channels?

Nothing could be simpler, if you are in a region covered by Eutelsat/Nilesat 7°W or HOTBIRD 13°E satellites, all you need is a satellite dish and a satellite receiver bearing the Sat.tv logo. For more information, watch the ‘How can I receive the channel package?’ section.

What equipment do I need to receive TV channels?

To receive Sat.tv channels, all you need is a satellite decoder bearing the Sat.tv logo, on sale in most stores. For more information, watch the ‘Compatible decoder’ section.

How are the channels in the Sat.tv channel package selected?

Eutelsat/Nilesat 7°W and HOTBIRD 13°E are orbital positions open to all television channels. As such, Sat.tv does not select the channels available in the channel package.
The orbital position Eutelsat/Nilesat 7°W currently aggregates almost all Arabic channels, general entertainment and specialised, from the Middle East and North Africa.
The orbital position HOTBIRD 13°E aggregates more particularly most news channels from around the world as well as free television channels in Italian, Russian, Farsi, and Arabic.

Programme information is not always correct, how can I get more accurate information on them?

Sat.tv is a collaborative platform between Eutelsat and the channels broadcast by its satellites. The accuracy of programme information is the responsibility of the channels; however, Sat.tv works closely with them to offer you the most accurate guide possible.

Some channels do not display programme information on my decoder.

Provision of programme data is the responsibility of the channels. These channels have not provided their data yet.
The Sat.tv team is actively working with all the TV channels available via Eutelsat/Nilesat and HOTBIRD to achieve the most detailed programme guide possible.

In the mobile application, some channels display ‘the programme guide for this channel is not available yet’. When will it be available?

What do you do with my personal data?

If you use a Sat.tv decoder, no personal data is collected.
When creating an account on the Sat.tv application, we collect some personal information. This information is used to personalise the guide and offer you the most suitable content which will be broadcast to you in the Sat.tv channel package.
This information will not be used for any other purpose than to provide you with more content of interest to you.

Does the Sat.tv application display adverts?

No, the Sat.tv application does not display adverts. We will occasionally feature certain channels and programmes that correspond to your personalised profile.

Which set-top boxes are compatible with the Sat.tv service? 

The Sat.tv service is compatible with a wide range of set-top boxes.
Models incorporating the service can be recognised by the sat.tv logo on the product.

What channels are available? 

Sat.tv offers 1000 television channels, giving you access to:

– Eutelsat/Nilesat with 150 film and series channels, 40 sports channels, 100 news channels, 20 children’s channels, 20 music channels… and 150 HD channels.
– Hotbird, which has 20 culture and documentary channels, 20 music channels, 70 news channels, 100 general interest channels… and 100 HD channels.

Where can I buy this service? 

Set-top boxes supporting the Sat.tv service are available in over 10 countries. These set-top boxes are sold in all TV shops. 

How much does Sat.tv cost? Is it free? 

The Sat.tv service is completely free. All you need is a compatible set-top box.
The price of a compatible set-top box depends on the retailer but the average price is around $15.

In which countries is the service available?

What geographical area do I need to be in to receive Sat.tv? 

To receive the Sat.tv service, all you need is to be in the satellite coverage area and have a satellite dish and a Sat.tv-compatible set-top box.

Sat.tv is available on the Eutelsat/Nilesat and Hotbird satellites: 

– The Eutelsat/Nilesat satellites cover the whole of North Africa and the Middle East.
– The HOTBIRD satellites cover all of Europe, western Russia, North Africa and the Middle East

How do you set up the service? Does a technician have to come? 

You can install a Sat.tv set-top box yourself. Just connect it to your TV set and your dish and away you go! 

How can I access popular channels in my country directly? 

You automatically get direct access to the most popular channels thanks to a pre-set list based on the country chosen when the service is set up. Does your service provide access to pay channels for free? 

No. Sat.tv only gives you access to a wide range of free channels. Sat.tv does not allow access to TV programmes transmitted via Internet protocol. If you want to use pay channels (e.g. BEin Sport 1, BEin Sport 2, etc.) you have to subscribe to the channel. 

What is the TV Guide app? 

The TV Guide app is a mobile application that allows you to find the list and timings of your favourite Eutelsat/Nilesat and Hotbird channels.
