Quran TV is a satellite television station that broadcasts from the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, live and 24 hours a day, at the walls of the Sacred Mosque of Mecca. It transmits live all five daily prayers and calls to prayer. Outside prayer times, the station broadcasts live images of different parts of the Holy Mosque accompanied by Koranic recitations from the best reciters of the Qur’an known in the Islamic world and from a whole range of different countries. Viewers will find themselves truly immersed in the spiritual atmosphere of the Holy Mosque of Mecca.
Depending on the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Communication, the network has been broadcasting continuously since its original launch and without the transmission coming directly from the Holy Mosque and the immediate surroundings ever having suffered any interruption or cessation. On the Day of ‚Arafat during the period of the Pilgrimage – Al-Hajj- the cameras are even filming outside the Sacred Mosque to capture the pilgrims’ steps to Mount Arafat.
Founded in early 1431 Hijri (equivalent to 18 December 2009) under the guard of the Two Sacred Mosques Nobles, the late King Abd-al Sa’ud al’Aziz, it is now considered to be the best of the available channels dedicated to spreading the Noble Qur’an. Friday prayers, the prayers of Eid Al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha and the Tarawih prayers during the nights of Ramadan are also broadcast live.
