With its popular music programmes and entertainment shows, Russian Musicbox sets itself out to be ‘the’ international music channel for young people. It first started broadcasting in 2004 and is widely available across the globe including in numerous towns in Russia, in the Baltic States and in all European countries. The channel is dedicated to following qualitative trends in music, with prominent styles including international hip-hop, rnb and pop-rock. In addition, many contests for artists are featured on the channel, namely those for singers and dancers. Russian Musicbox offers viewers a selection of programmes, broadcasting concerts and other must-see musical events from all around Europe. Footage and reports showing previous popular events are also shown. The main group targeted by Russian Musicbox is young people from 16-30 years old, inspiring it to be an energetic and ambitious channel. In order to maintain its independence, Russian Musicbox has its own distribution channel as well as its own recording studios, one of which allows artists to come and record songs live before they are rebroadcast out to viewers. Programmes are broadcast from 7am to 11pm.
