Euronews On the satellite hotbird - TV programme

EuroNews is a pan-European, non-stop news channel based in Lyon, France. The channel sees itself as having been the first multilingual news channel in the world. Founded in January 1993, EuroNews had two initial main objectives: to broadcast current news from Europe and the rest of the world, and to form an alternative to its American rival CNN, which was the dominant channel at the time. Within only a few years, EuroNews had largely achieved these objectives and was proud to offer viewers ‘pure news’ just as its slogan advertised. Signatory in 2015 to a European Union convention, the pan-European news channel continued to position itself as a major force promoting integration between people in Europe and people in the rest of the world.
EuroNews promotes a different way of relaying news topics from other channels. It feeds news through without allowing any form of sensationalism to show, thus allowing viewers the chance to form their own opinions about current affairs. The channel shows its dedication to this philosophy through its famous programme ‘No comment’, which broadcasts up to date news reports without the use of commentary. Every 30 minutes the channel offers snippets of the latest news around Europe and the world. Debriefings are offered by its journalists, with participating in-the-know consultants and analysts. Magazine-style programmes are also broadcast by EuroNews. These cover a variety of topics including the economy, finance, sport, new technology, culture and arts.
